{"id":19,"date":"2007-10-21T04:20:41","date_gmt":"2007-10-21T10:20:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aspiringeconomist.com\/index.php\/2007\/10\/21\/huckabee-is-mistaken\/"},"modified":"2007-10-21T04:36:46","modified_gmt":"2007-10-21T10:36:46","slug":"huckabee-is-mistaken","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/aspiringeconomist.com\/index.php\/2007\/10\/21\/huckabee-is-mistaken\/","title":{"rendered":"Huckabee is Mistaken"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recent comments by Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee via <a href=\"http:\/\/krugman.blogs.nytimes.com\/2007\/10\/20\/the-sum-of-all-um-something\/\" target=\"_blank\">Krugman&#8217;s blog<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSometimes we talk about why we\u2019re importing so many people in our workforce,\u201d the former Arkansas governor said. \u201cIt might be for the last 35 years, we have aborted more than a million people who would have been in our workforce had we not had the holocaust of liberalized abortion under a flawed Supreme Court ruling in 1973.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>What I find most disturbing about this statement is the implicit assumption that jobs are static.  Had all the children aborted since 1973 been born, they would be working and  consuming resulting in the creation of new jobs in the economy.
